A trade window has been established for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and the Big Bash League (BBL). It will start after the end of both leagues this summer and last ten days.
Teams will have ten days following the WBBL and BBL finals to take advantage of what is known as the Player Movement Window, which was created “to assist players and clubs in making earlier contracting decisions.” During this window, the teams have the following options:
1. Trade a player with another team; 2. Sign a player from another team nearing their current contract’s end; and 3. Trade Overseas Player Draft spots in conjunction with or separately from player deals. Visit BPExch and see all cricket updates.
From December 2 (9 AM AEDT) until December 11 (5 PM AEDT), the WBBL trading window is open. Similarly, the BBL window will open at 9 AM AEDT on January 28, 2025, and close at 5 PM AEDT on February 6, 2025.
Since they are subject to these agreements, they must be executed before or after the contracting embargo is lifted. The blockade is anticipated to be lifted in March 2025, following the end of both leagues’ home and away seasons.
Additionally, the teams will be constrained by the maximum list sizes. The restrictions will apply to pre-signed foreign players with multi-year contracts with teams.
Players holding multi-year contracts in the WBBL include Lizelle Lee (Hobart Hurricanes), Chamari Athapaththu (Sydney Thunder), Sophie Devine (Perth Scorchers), Marizanne Kapp (Melbourne Stars), Nadine de Klerk (Brisbane Heat), and Amelia Kerr (Sydney Sixers).
In the BBL, Sam Billings (Thunder) has a deal that runs through the end of the following season, while Finn Allen (Scorchers), Colin Munro (Heat), Tim Seifert (Renegades), Chris Jordan (Hurricanes), and Tom Curran (Stars) have contracts that run for the next two seasons.
The teams can only modify their list during the 10-day player transfer window during the embargo period.
