Things you shouldn’t do on a trip to Thailand

Thailand is always an amazing experience unless you do something that doesn’t go with Thai law or the culture. Here are some must-avoid things that you should never forget while travelling to Thailand:

Respecting the culture of where you’re visiting is very important when you’re visiting a foreign country. In Thai culture, the most important thing you must keep in mind is that you cannot touch a person’s head. The head is considered to be the most respectful and cleanest part of the body. You cannot touch anybody’s head or put something on it.

Don’t disrespect the Monks or Buddha

Monks are highly respected in Thailand, never do something which seems to be disrespectful for the monks or the Buddha. Don’t stand higher than a monk or keeping him behind your body; never try to hug or touch a monk. Especially if you’re a woman, be very careful and never try to physically contact a monk.

Use your feet for nothing but Walking

Never point your feet to something, especially in the holy places. Don’t keep your feet or pointing finger pointing to a temple, a monk, or a picture of the Buddha. Pointing at them with feet is highly disrespectful to the culture and religion of Thai people.

Take your shoes off

Be careful about your shoes while walking around or going somewhere. Take off your shoes while entering someonces house, temples, shops, and even some restaurants. That’s why putting on some slip-on shoes in Thailand is a better idea.

Riding Elephants is illegal in Thailand as well as Abusing any animal while visiting them. Never give money to the elephant rider when they ask for money to feed the elephant. Never fund a play where any animal is involved.

Don’t get into illegal drugs

Don’t overstay your permitted Visa period

This is the most obvious thing to keep in mind that you cannot overstay your Visa period in Thailand. If you do so, you will have to count the fine of 5000 baht to 20000 baht for each day you overstay.

images from Thailand
as well. But if you don’t respect the culture and the belief system the people held there, you’re going to regret it. Know your legal right in Thailand and pack with the right things if you want to have a great vacation.
